Insurance for Stonehenge homes in North Raleigh
Stonehenge is a large North Raleigh community built from the 1970s on, centered on Creedmoor Road at Howard Road. Spacious wooded lots and a few decades of updates, or none, shape the coverage questions we hear most.

Homes from the 1970s and 1980s
Most of Stonehenge was built in the 1970s and 1980s, with newer pockets added since. Some homes have been fully updated and some still have original systems. Insurance companies ask about roof age, the electrical panel, plumbing and the water heater; homes wired in the late 1960s and early 1970s sometimes have aluminum branch wiring, which some companies want inspected or remediated.
Many homes from this era have wood-burning fireplaces. Insurance companies may ask whether the chimney has been inspected and whether a wood stove or insert was professionally installed, so keep those records.
Septic systems and community water
Parts of the older sections of Stonehenge use septic tanks rather than city sewer. A homeowners policy generally doesn’t pay to repair or replace a septic system that fails from age, wear or roots, and sewage backing up into the house is usually excluded unless you add water backup coverage.
Some insurance companies offer a service line endorsement that covers damage to buried utility lines on your property. We’ll tell you which companies offer it and what it does and doesn’t include.
Big lots, pools and quiet streets
Half-acre and larger wooded lots mean mature trees, decks, backyard pools and room for trampolines and dogs. Each of those adds liability exposure, and many of the older streets have no sidewalks, so kids, bikes and walkers share the road. Higher liability limits and an umbrella policy are a sensible base.
Large trees also bring tree-removal questions. Policies often limit debris removal for a tree that falls without hitting a covered structure, so we’ll walk you through how yours works.
Selling, downsizing or moving
Long-time owners selling a Stonehenge house sometimes move out before it sells. Many homeowners policies restrict coverage once a home has been vacant for an extended period, commonly 60 days, so tell us before you move and we can arrange vacant home coverage. If you are moving to a condo or townhome, we’ll line up an HO-6 policy that starts on closing day.
Every policy is different, and exact coverage depends on the insurance company and the options you choose.

FAQ
Insurance questions from Stonehenge
Does homeowners insurance cover a failed septic system?
Usually not when it fails from age, wear, roots or lack of maintenance. Damage caused by a covered event may be treated differently, and sewage backing up into the home is generally covered only if you add water backup coverage. Ask us about service line coverage too.
My Stonehenge home has aluminum wiring. Can I still get insurance?
Often, yes, but some insurance companies ask for an electrician’s inspection or for repairs such as approved connectors at outlets and switches. As an independent agency, we can check several companies’ rules.
What happens to my coverage if the house sits empty while it’s for sale?
Many homeowners policies limit coverage for certain losses, such as vandalism and some water damage, once a home has been vacant beyond a set period. Tell us before you move out so we can add a vacancy endorsement or a vacant home policy.
