What it is

Bundling means placing your home and auto policies with the same insurance company. It can simplify your coverage and often earns a multi-policy discount, but the coverage still has to be right.

Every policy is different, and exact coverage depends on the insurance company and the options you choose. We’ll walk you through the details before you buy.

What we can help you cover

  • One point of contact and simpler renewals
  • We compare bundled and separate pricing so you see the real difference
  • Renters can bundle with auto, too

How a home and auto bundle works

Bundling means placing your homeowners (or renters or condo) policy and your auto policy with the same insurance company. Many companies offer a multi-policy discount for doing this, and you get one company to call, matching renewal dates and often a single app or account for both policies.

A bundle is only a good deal if both policies are right for you. A discount on auto does not help much if the home policy that came with it has a high wind deductible or leaves out water backup coverage you need.

Why we price it both ways

Because Shadow Lake is an independent agency, we can quote your home and auto together with one company and also look at placing them separately with different companies. Sometimes the bundle wins; sometimes two separate policies give better coverage or a lower total. We show you both so you can decide.

To start a home and auto insurance quote we usually need the home’s address, year built and roof age, your current declarations pages if you have them, and the drivers and vehicles in your household.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What do I need for a home and auto insurance quote?

Your address and basic facts about the home (year built, square footage, roof age and updates), the names and license information for each driver, the vehicles (year, make, model or VIN), and your current policies if you have them. Current declarations pages make it easy to compare coverage apples to apples.

Is bundling home and auto always cheaper?

Not always. Multi-policy discounts are common, but each company prices home and auto differently. We compare bundled and separate options from several companies so you can see which combination gives you the coverage you want at a better total cost.

Can renters or condo owners bundle with auto?

Yes. Many companies offer a multi-policy discount when renters or condo insurance is combined with auto, and the renters policy itself is usually inexpensive.

What does Home and Auto Insurance (Bundled) typically cover?

Bundling means placing your home and auto policies with the same insurance company. It can simplify your coverage and often earns a multi-policy discount, but the coverage still has to be right. Exact limits, deductibles and exclusions depend on the policy and the insurance company, so we review the details with you before you buy.

Do you only insure people in Raleigh or North Carolina?

Our office is in North Raleigh, and we work with neighbors across the Triangle every day. As an independent agency we also help clients nationwide when we have markets that fit.

How do I get a quote for home and auto insurance (bundled) coverage?

Start the quick quote form on this page, call or text our office, or request a quote online. An advisor reviews every request and follows up — usually within one business day.

Will you compare more than one insurance company?

Yes. Shadow Lake is an independent agency, so we shop multiple top-rated carriers for you instead of selling a single brand. Availability depends on the coverage, your location and underwriting.

Is flood damage included in a standard homeowners policy?

Usually not. Most homeowners and renters policies exclude flood. If you need flood coverage in North Carolina or elsewhere, we can help you look at separate flood options.

Our office is on Six Forks Road in North Raleigh, and we help households and businesses across the Triangle and nationwide.
